Perfect Bodies

So, we all know the buzz words, ”body shaming,”, “toxic masculinity”

God made humans in every shape and size and variety imaginable. God made men in every shape and size and variety imaginable. People think that the sculpted mesomorph is the ideal. It’s not. It’s one iteration. Often copied, rarely even to a point where its owner feels perfect.

So, a note in biology first. A lot of us have fat. You don’t want too much fat. But a little fat is healthy. If your body has excess food, it stores it as fat to be used later. Babies have fat, although they have brown fat, which releases heat when broken down (which they need). That tummy you have? In two months, you may have a terrible stomach distress. You can’t keep anything down, and you lose 20 lbs. That mesomorph? If that happens to him? He’s going to be in the hospital, probably in ICU, because his body doesn’t have any fat to use to sustain itself. Granted, no one wants to be fat, but did you know in the Middle Ages in Europe fat was a sign of wealth and status? It was desirable as a way of saying ,”I have extra food,” because many didn’t. There is a series of sculptures called “Los Gordos,” for a similar reason.

We have skinny people. Skinny people are amazing, too, because their body is so efficient (generally, and talking about runners too), they don’t waste a lot of energy. They have even reduced their muscle as their body became better at running on less energy and probably cardio.

There’s nothing wrong with being muscular, either. Most people, particularly men, would like to be that mesomorph. But we don’t have to, and we’re not inferior to someone who is. There is a strength of body, which decays with age, and there is a strength of character that grows with wisdom, as it is written, ”Better one who is even tempered than him who conquers a city,”

God made you, and shaped you, exactly as he designed. He is to be given the glory for all we have, even our weaknesses, which are perfectly designed for us. We are to be thankful for every aspect of ourselves. Because if we aren’t? We will fall into sin.

As it is written, ”I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made,”

So don’t covet muscle, or hair color, or skin color, or eye color, or shape, or height or anything else. God made you unique. Even gemini twins have different fingerprints, different synapse patterns. Give God the glory! Thank You Lord, that we are not all cookie cutter humans! Thank you for the beauty in each and every person You have made!

“And God made them male and female, and blessed them,”

My focus is not that everyone is special. My focus, is that you are special. That when you live in a right relationship to God, you can rejoice in His creation, you! How much more if you are a child of God! For the glorious bodies we shall receive will bear the image of the Son of God, Jesus! Praise the Lord for this indescribable gift! Hallelujah! Praise Him!
