More facebook censorship, but is it really new?

I worked on a beautiful article to put on my private prayer group. Not on fb, not on a feed, not on my page, not on someone else’s page. They “had an error” and lost it all. Normally when something goes wrong on your page, they save the draft on the post, not this time.

The article I put wasn’t as good, but it did go up. Did you know that there was censorship and cancel culture in the bible? Over and over Jeremiah is put in prison, threatened, harmed, punished for speaking the truth.

The story goes in the book that bears his name, that he had Baruch, a scribe, write down all the words he had told the people in public. Baruch goes and gives the scroll to an official, who reads it, and tells Baruch and Jeremiah to hide so no one can find them. The officials read it aloud, and freak out, knowing judgment is coming. They take it to the king, his close officials, and his family. The king reads a paragraph of the scroll, cuts it off the parchment, and burns it. He does this to every word Baruch recorded from Jeremiah.

Jeremiah is not the only one harmed for speaking the truth. Most of the Old Testament prophets were treated this way. They spoke God’s Truth, and they were beheaded, sawn in two, and much much more and worse. One of them was even struck down in God’s own temple. But we see from history that Judah was taken over by the Babylonians, just as Jeremiah said it would happen. The false prophets were most likely slaughtered. Even though people listened to what they wanted to hear, they were still held accountable for not believing God, not even allowing the prophets to speak without retribution. We see a summary of this in Hebrews also.

God has the final say. God is the ultimate authority. Jesus is His Messiah. And every knee will bow. Will history prove right those who suppress the truth and mock God? We shall see.

Just a brief thought about Christmas
