Dear Father,
Thank you for this day. The day has just started. I’m letting my food settle a bit before I get started. I’m already thinking of all the stuff I have to do today. Please help me, Lord, to do what you would have me do, and avoid the things you would have me not do. Lead me not into temptation, Lord, but deliver me from evil.
Last night.. I thought about the chapter in Matthew where it says, “If your eye causes offense, pluck it out,” and “If your right hand causes offense, cut it off”
I know he’s not being literal. But the metaphor is strong. Get rid of anything that trips up your relationship with God. Cut it off at the roots. And I’m thinking about that, and how I go about applying that in my life. Then I read My Utmost for His Highest, and it was on the same few verses. Spurgeon doesn’t pull any punches either.
So, I prayed and continue to pray, that the Holy Spirit will help me keep my resolutions, so that I can honor You and Jesus in all I do.
Love,
Trem
