Not a Mastermind

So, over the past couple days I’ve really been praying for God to help me write again, to be creative. And He has. I can’t help think, ”What is it for?” but am so grateful to Him for this gift.

And I’m thinking. What are the things we need in our lives that we don’t ask God for?

I’ll take you to James, specifically 4:3

“You have not because you ask not, and you receive not because you ask amiss, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures,”

I feel like i may have amalgamated several different versions here. But the point remains. Some answers to prayer you only receive because you ask, and ask with right motives. If I had asked, ”God, help me go to the gym so I can get really muscled and girls will stare at me,” That probably would’ve been a no. But I asked for Him to help me get to the gym so that my chronic health condition might improve, I might have more energy, and I would be honoring Him by improving the physical state of His temple (my body).

And when you ask? Don’t second guess or doubt. Because if you doubt or second guess your prayer, particularly immediately, it means you are double-minded, and that means you won’t get what you ask for.

If you needed a ride to work, and you asked your friend, ”Would you mind giving me a ride to work.. Oh, but I could walk or take the bus,” He’s probably not giving you that lift. God wants to know your sincerity and commitment when you ask for things. Ask the Father to be filled with His Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to walk in His ways, to be lead by Him, that your life might be controlled by Him. And ask that you have the strength to escape all that is going to happen (tribulation), and that you stand before the Son of Man.

“Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds..”

But it’s translated (Keep on asking) (Keep on seeking) (Keep on knocking). Fervent persistent, focused prayer will help you get you what you need. But ultimately what you need is God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Will not He who gave up for us His only Son, also give us all things pertaining to godliness?

Hope that helps.
