So AI generated art is starting to pick up steam. But I think that if this goes the right way, artists, those that make the art themselves, will eventually make more money, as people will appreciate original work as compared to AI art. Think about the Industrial Revolution. You can produce 20 cups for the price of one, but they don’t have the little touches, the durability.
In TBZ you have traditional onmyouji who use brushes and ink, and “shiki slingers” who use an abacus and a meikyo to summon shikigami. The traditionals look down on the shiki slingers, but the abacus and kimenkyo (a mechanical mirror) make it more of a science and less of an art, also more accessible. So we’ve got both camps. But I think there’s a middle ground. Using our own photographs and art to put into the Machine that produces AI art. And that’s where the future of it lies.
Hope that helps. Most of this is just opinion, speculative. But I wanted to post something related to this, and I have played around with it for the past few days.
