I intended to write a fiery article that would help the Methodist church to endure, stand strong, and remember who they are. As you know, one of the most encouraging things to a believer is for another believer to share how God worked in their life.
I’m just going to give part of it, and hope that it is sufficient. I went to college for the first time in 2003. My living situation was unsuitable . I didn’t feel safe and I couldn’t sleep where I was. I sought out help from every college ministry. Every college ministry but Wesley Foundation.
My insomnia became critical, and I was diagnosed with bipolar. Five years later, I went back to the same college. I knew I needed to find other believers and form a support network. So, I went to the Wesley Foundation. There, I quickly made friends, and thanks to the campus minister (whose kindness, wise counsel, and discipleship), I flourished. God taught me how to lead small groups, pray, speak and preach, and even how to do missions, all through these kind bible believing people.
I have been in remission for six years. And even though I am now Baptist, part of me will always be in the Methodist church. They can take away your name, your funding, and punish you, persecute you.. but remember! Our brothers and sisters around the world are being burned, hacked to death with machetes, kicked out or killed by their families, and much worse.
God is in control, and I know you. You will find your encouragement in God and in each other. Share the word of your testimony! Nonbelievers aren’t they only ones who need to hear it. Satan will be overcome by us as he was by Christ.
“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
