Phantasy Star Online 2

Okay, so two weeks ago I went to J.’s house. We talked for a long time. He mentioned that PSO2 was coming out. Now I loved the first one. Spent 500 hours on the first one, but that was over a period of like.. 5 or 6 years?

So, most MMO’s (except WoW perhaps) last 5-6 years. I Imagine Warframe will start to depopulate soon, through no fault of its own. The players get tired of it, they move on. The Multiverse Crisis Mush lasted at least 10? But there’s something about the game players. They get bored after a while. This is good for the industry, for it is always coming up with new games.

Anyway, what I wanted to talk about is.. my mental state. So I’m thinking “Oh, I can limit it, manage it, it will be fine,” and maybe it will. But I always think that at first. Eventually I’ll feel guilty for not giving the puppies enough attention, or something, and I’ll probably quit it. But this is my pattern. Clean for a few years, then back on it and so on. I think this is something a lot of addicts go through.

So, now that we’re on to the game, I’ve been thinking about three characters. I want to make a Cast ranger/gunner, a human hunter, and a Newman/NewWearl Force/Summoner. Ideally I will do the ranger first, because I always play the same kind of character in every MMO. So I want to try something different. Because of my writing tendencies, I’ve already got most of the details figured out. I guess we’ll see.

The Casts in this version of Phantasy Star are cyborgs, akin to Darth Vader. They can’t manage their Photon Energies, so they undergo a cybernetic surgery to stabilize their condition. I guess if a character were to have very severe birth defects, or perhaps had some kind of accident that heavily damaged their body, they might have the same thing done. In the earlier versions Casts were androids. Guess it changes a bit with every incarnation.

They have Dewman’s now, which are like.. I don’t even know. Slender folks with horns on their heads that often have heterochromia? I’m not sure about the appeal of that one, unless it’s a reference to some anime/manga or Shin Megami Tensei or Persona or something.

Well, we’ll see how this next chapter of my life goes. I honestly don’t know. But I know, for addicts, no matter how long you stay clean, there is always a temptation. Some people, like my Uncle quit cigarettes 30 years ago, others struggle their whole lives, and still others stay sick.

So.. what does this mean for you? Everyone has a vice (or several). God can heal you, or God can sustain you, or God can walk that dark painful path with you. Jesus can free you from addiction, and he can use your story, your struggle, to help others. There is hope, and that hope comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Call on His Name today, and be saved, now, and forever.
