First Amendment Rights

So, with Co-Vid, many churches are choosing not to meet. Some are doing so at reduced capacity. It is up to each congregation’s consciences, but under the First Amendment, we have the right to peaceably assemble. The government can’t tell us not to meet.

If people can organize into protests, which degenerate into riots and chaos, then we should be able to meet as an assembly in the house of God. In our country, we have the right to assemble peaceably.

Now, as for the mask and social distancing? Harmful. I’m not saying we shouldn’t wear masks, or shouldn’t social distance, but they are not good for us. Breathing the same air over and over decreases your blood oxygen levels (like breathing in a paper bag when you are hyperventilating. This has caused people to collapse, and some to even die. Masks prevent the wearer from spreading germs. It does not protect the wearer from others’ germs. We should really only wear them if we are sick, not if we are healthy.

Social distancing? Try isolation. You can’t sit with your friends in a group. Can’t hug, shake hands, get support from the people around you. I understand the perceived logic behind this, but this is more harmful than masks. If it weren’t? Why would solitary confinement be a greater level of punishment in prison?

We can’t let people control us, make us afraid. You can’t live an abundant life in fear. Wear your masks, social distance as you feel convicted, but don’t shame people for exercising their liberties. It’s one thing to attempt to control your life, to attempt to make the best life you can. It’s completely another to control other peoples’ lives, manipulate them for selfish goals, and intimidate and control them. That is tyranny.
