I am vaccinated.. kinda

So, let me begin this post by saying: I am vaccinated. I have the first shot, and I intend, Lord willing to get the second. However, I think everyone should make an informed choice. If someone will give you $250 to take the vaccine, or you’re just getting the vaccine to be able to remove the mask, that is not an informed choice.

However, I took biochemistry in undergrad. So I know a little bit about virology, immunology, and of course, biology and chemistry.

Mask wearing-A virus is generally 7 to 15 nanometers. That is 7/1000000000 meters, or 7 angstroms. A hole in a fully functional mask is about 100 times larger than the Co-Vid virus. The N-95’s are much better, but most masks are designed to prevent you from spreading germs, not getting germs yourself.

Surgeons wear masks all the time in surgery. Are they afraid of getting germs from the patient? No, it’s generally because they could get germs from their mouths or nose into an open wound, open chest cavity, or even into an internal organ if they weren’t careful.

Masks do help, but in some cases it’s just like hoarding toilet paper, it gives you a sense of control. Like posies in the pockets of children in England in 1665 during the Black Plague, it gives you something you can do that helps you feel safe.

I am not vilifying nor blaming health officials or healthcare workers, but in some cases I think information is being concealed. When I got the shot? The lady at the counter put the warnings/side effects sheet under the one I had to sign. The government, big tech, big business, all want you to get vaccinated. Which I understand. But they’re punishing people who are unwilling to get vaccinated by insisting they wear the masks.

Anytime old media and corporations want me to do something, I’m always suspicious. I may never have any problems from the vaccine, but there is a chance I will. Ten days, or ten years from now. Because it didn’t get tested like vaccines are supposed to be, and it didn’t get FDA approval (all info I read on the information page behind, key word behind, the waiver I signed.)

I think a lot of this is social control. People in power want to control everyone else, everything, including you and your family. You know why I think this? Because there are already rumors of a delta strain. A strain that could potentially get us sick. This will result in having to wear masks again, and yet another vaccine. At some point these vaccine could be mandatory.

And one other thing I want to point out. I think the pro-choice argument concerning abortion is wrong. But anyone (not wanting to get a vaccine) can (and should) use that argument as a justification for not wanting foreign material injected into their bodies. After all, we have a right to control what happens to our bodies, don’t we?

Now, some people should get the vaccine. If they’re older, over weight, got a pre-existing condition, or possibly if they are undergoing cancer treatment. But we must make an informed decision. When my personal physician clearly laid out the pro’s and con’s, and told me that there was at least a chance I could have side effects or worse, I chose. I’ve known this doctor for almost 20 years. And maybe I chose wrong.

But anyone not wanting to get the vaccine is right. And anyone wanting to get the vaccine is also right. Because it’s something a person should decide on for themselves. After all, we don’t live in a communist country (yet).

Now, all that aside, if I have mild or no side-effects, I plan, LW, on getting the second vaccine. But that’s my choice. I have a friend that absolutely refuses to take it, even if his life depends on it. And I was that way . But if I wasn’t convinced? If I didn’t feel like I had all the information I wanted? I could’ve refused the vaccine to this day. And that would’ve been okay. And if I end up in the hospital for something related to the vaccine? That may affect my decision to receive the second vaccination.

So the next time you want to use ad hominem arguments against your friends that disagree with you, you can do that. But it’s only a half step below the old,” Uh-huh/Nuh-uh” thing we used to do when we were in elementary school.

Name calling In a discussion/debate/face book post is just a rudimentary way of saying, ”I can’t defend my arguments/beliefs, so I’m just going to personally attack you”
